My workflow sucks. Seriously, throw in 3 weddings, and it's like I don't have a life to blog about! Actually, ask Cam, and he will probably say it's true. Second to the actual day itself, I LOVE post-processing, and I have been known to spend close to 100 hours working on one wedding. Maybe I haven't being doing this long enough yet, or maybe I am just a geek; but despite the achy joints, late nights, and hours of near isolation, I really enjoy this part. I literally comb through each photo and then select the top few hundred to work with individually. Okay I will come clean, I only learnt how to batch process quite recently, but I don't think that will make any difference. Each picture conveys a different message, a different piece to the story, you can never find a one size fits all action. But anyhow, I digress... So yes, maybe some parts of my life have gone into temporary hibernation, but overall we've actually had a pretty jam-packed August.
So I plan to review August retrospectively, beginning with one of the real highlights - the birth of baby Miles to our dear friends, Shelly and Simon. The adorable bundle was still in hospital when I first got to see him, but I am looking forward to visiting him and his mama at home soon. He is just so gorgeous, a little bundle of pure love! I am excited, having documented Miles incubation, I get to meet the little guy now! I hope he likes having his picture taken :)
There is just something about the little feet and hands, those teeny tiny nails.
Soooo cute!
How beautiful is he? I love how his little lip gets sucked in by his top lip - little unique Miles-traits already!
Congratulations Shelly and Simon! You both must be so proud.
And welcome to the world Miles :)
Sneak Peek: Mr & Mrs Plasted
11:20
Last Saturday we had the utter pleasure of photographing the wedding of Stacey and Luke. After two days of heavy rain, the clouds parted and they managed to celebrate their day in predominantly glorious sunshine. It was perfect for these two.
We are so excited about the pictures and will work hard to show you more soon!
Married: Hannah & Nick
00:54
I have been excited about Hannah and Nick's wedding ever since we first met and Hannah told me they were getting married on a 1920s barge. I got teased with words like vintage and lace, cupcakes and bunting, so I was quite literally giddy with anticipation. And all I can say is Hannah and Nick did not disappoint!
The wedding took place at The Swan, a truly English setting by the side of the River Thames which not even the typically english weather could dampen. Cam hung out with the groomsmen in the morning and joined them on a boat ride along the river. He later told me of a moment where Nick went rather quiet as if contemplating the next remarkable stage of his life to come, and said he felt the experience was quite symbolic. I thought that was beautiful...
I was with the equally contemplative bride in a suite of the hotel, although the room was buzzing with activity; and amongst flowers being delivered, room service with champagne, and their adorable daughter, Lizzie, Hannah emerged an elegant bride. Seriously. The sky was grey, the rain was spritzing; but you wouldn't have noticed. The day filled with warm quirky moments, like when Hannah walked in to an orchestral version of Sweet Child of Mine, and Mr & Mrs Liebmann walked out to the tune of Raiders of Lost Ark. I loved how they chose Patsy Cline for their first dance because "it's the only genre of music we could agree on". I adored the fact Hannah chose to add Lisianthus to her bouquet because the name makes her think of her daughter. It's these little things which make the day truly theirs, and they were perfect.

Hannah and Nick, we truly loved, loved, loved, sharing your special day.
Thank you for letting us be part of it, and may your new adventures together as Mr & Mrs be everything you dreamed of and more.

Married: Lucy & Chris
21:46
Meet the Johnstones.
Lucy and Chris got married on 31st July 2010, following in the footsteps of royalty, at the grand Windsor Guildhall. A wonderfully ornate and elegant building, Lucy's great grandfather also once presided as Mayor here. How proud he would have been to see the stunning bride she was.
The day started at the Royal Berkshire Ramada where I hung out with Lucy and her bridesmaids, Nina and Jude, whilst Lucy's makeup was immaculately applied by Nicky from Beauty Call. She was a real calming influence on the increasingly nervous bride, and also offered some excellent practical advice on where to suitably hold the bouquet (the girls will know what I mean!).
Cam in the meantime was off in search of the boys, who he eventually tracked down in a local watering hole.
I cannot even begin to do the Council Chamber justice. The chandliers and grand portraits dating back to Elizabeth I quite literally takes your breath away.
After the ceremony, the reception was held at the York Club in the grounds of Windsor Great Park. I loved the contrast of the formality of the Guildhall against the country charm of the York Club, and with the weather on our side, it gave us a good opportunity for some relaxed plein air portraits.
Thank you Lucy and Chris for allowing us to share in your Big day.
Marriage rocks.
